eating mandoo

i couldn't resist posting this picture after noticing that michael is making some sort of gang symbol. or is it nanu-nanu?

anyway, we had a new year's feast after yoga. cindy made the most delicious kimchi pancakes. elena brought another of her amazing creations: carmelized bananas, canary islands-style, with poppy seeds. kim brought tofu with peanut satay, manuel & isabelle made thai green curry - so delicious - and marion baked cookies. philippe & arabel brought champagne and russell illegally transported fruit across national borders, all the way from chelsea.

i made dduk gook - traditional Korean rice cake soup - the old-fashioned way. i bought a bag of bones from the butcher across the street for 5o pence for the broth, boiling the hell out of them for three days and adding some brisket for good measure. we had saved some of our homemade dumplings from the previous night, and luckily there were two bags of rice cakes left at the korean grocery store. i snatched those off the shelf PDQ!
