we went to the 02 stadium to see a concert of a lifetime - our lifetime, that is. seeing the royal one made me realize that we literally grew up with prince.
when the movie "purple rain" came out, my best friend and i bought tickets to the PG-rated "oxford blues" but tried to sneak in to see prince con apollonia into thinking she was skinny-dipping in our very own lake minnetonka. we got busted and had to go back to rob lowe. megumi remembers sneaking out to see the Purple Rain concert - in a long sweater, leggings and mesh gloves - in the height of the 80s. classic. later, in high school, i fantasized that prince would pick me out of the crowd at glam slam and invite me up to the VIP lounge (of course, i had to make do with teen night at first avenue).
when i went off to university in new york city, i cut out a little newspaper photo of prince and stuck it up on my bulletin board because he was a reminder of home. so, seeing him in london was the same: it felt like someone from way back home, an american voice amid a sea of londoners.
some of my favorite prince hits ("london, i got too many hits!"):
- the morning papers
- nothing compares to you
- pop life
- when doves cry
- diamonds and pearls
- 7
- little red corvette
- purple rain
- the beautiful ones
- darling nikki

I like the dirty prince..like on Controversy :) Is it true the Brits built him a house to live in on the grounds of the stadium? Sounds more like a King. :)
