"sex & the city" does sussex

"the house opposite"

megumi & AK had the brilliant idea of taking the city mice to play with the country mice for the day - "i need some country air," is how megumi put it - so off to the country we went. it was, as AK - wearing her Pacha t-shirt with matching bike helmet - "sex & the city" does sussex.

skater outside rye castle

rye itself is adorably quaint. either the english were all midgets 600 years ago or they couldn't figure out how to hoist things taller than shoulder-height. a fortified town built in the 11th century, it served as a key port city for 300 years - until the harbor began filling in, mooring rye a couple miles inland.

after a leisurely lunch in the sun-drenched courtyard at the george hotel, we cycled - yes, i have photographic proof that AK rode a bicycle "for the first time in 30 years" - past fields & pastures, picking blackberries along the way.

and then we stumbled across a street sign that just put it all into perspective.
