soon after we arrived in cannes a man - sunglasses, blazer, lots of gesticulating - swaggered past, saying on his mobile: "i cut all my hair off and now no one recognizes me."
i didn't, either.
i had a very un-cannes-y (hehe) cannes. i lounged by the water at the hotel martinez (is it really pronounced mar-tin-EZ?), drank white wine, ate seafood.

i slipped into monoprix and bought two tins of cassoulet and some herbs. but the best food of the trip was aboard the octopussy: i waltzed onto the deck - barefoot, of course - and straight into champagne, oysters, sushi & lobster. last time i checked megumi was still dipping strawberries in the three-tiered chocolate fountain.eugene experienced a totally different cannes - mainly since his did not involve a bikini & flip-flops but a tux and the red carpet! he took some wonderfully rich snapshots of his trip as part of the team with producer cherry montejo & filmmaker kit hui, whose film missing was in competition at cannes.
