i found eisenmann's Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas terrifying. as you tread deeper and deeper into the memorial, the ground dips and the slabs of granite get higher and higher until you are disoriented and claustrophobic and cannot see who might be right around the corner. it's a building terror that creeps up on you until you find yourself engulfed by it and anxious to get out. what is remarkable about the memorial is its location: right in the heart of berlin, as if to serve as a reminder of what lies at the core of modern germany's psyche and history.

Wow, I would really like to visit that. It looks like an intense experience. I love interactive sculpture that works.
it would be interesting to see what you think and what kind of experience you have. not everyone feels moved by the memorial. and i have a tendency toward claustrophobia that probably heightened my experience ;)
