jamon iberico in san sebastian
i was merrily walking down the avenida de la libertad in san sebastian when i got waylaid by some aggressively tasty-looking jamon iberico. i took this picture after snarfing a few pintxos. yes, it was a theme.
xabi took me to a beautiful plaza in the parte vieja, the old part of town. the shutters facing the plaza are numbered - the windows seats were rented, he says, to spectators back when the plaza housed a bullfighting ring.
i had a glass of the traditional basque white wine, txakoli - very light, fruity, refreshing. the next time i go to basque country i'd like to infiltrate their men-only eating clubs, the txokos.
