i snuck away for a few days to bournemouth to get the smell of the sea. no surf, really, but lovely sand (not the pebbles you get at brighton), seafood and sunset. there are these ramshackle little huts along the boardwalk painted in different colors. they're about the size of a garden shed, with a cupboard, a little camping stove (for brewing tea!) and enough space to chuck all your beach gear in. instead of lying on the beach all the brits were lying out in front of these sheds with their sunburns, their oversized inflatable sharks and their ice lollies (as they call them).
