for new year's eve we cooked enough food to feed the entire town of williamstown, ma: short ribs; a roast from staubitz, the overpriced butcher in cobble hill; staten island pork roast with garlic, dijon mustard and herbs; roast potatoes; sweet potatoes; brussels sprouts with pancetta; and viola made a beautiful green salad with pears, walnuts and pomegranate. we drank nine bottles of wine.

on new year's day, we went skiing and snowboarding at stratton, and then we came home and rice cake soup - the one korean tradition i try my hardest to maintain.
